Anyone know what are these parts for? Its off my 1989 230E (W124). :confused:

Part on the right according to the number on it is

A 0005402181 PLUG SOCKET (TRIMMER PLUG)

Can't see a part number on the other but from the look of the grey pipes at the top it is a vacuum driven part of some sort.

indeed, that right hand part is a resistor that configures the ignition advance mostly.... pulling it out on the M103 cars, at least, increases the minimum octane requirement, and gives you a little bit better performance.

I though the European and world market cars had a rotary plug instead which you could configure for various combinations of fuel octane and performance. we never got a 230E W124 here in the US, only the 190E 2.3
