Hi

I have the MY01 07 2002 Firmware update CD Part No W 230 589 00 22 00.

This has a number of Comand Part Numbers listed on the front of the instructions for use.
However my Comand Part No is 220 820 58 89 and that number is not listed.
The closest numbers to my number are 210 820 56 89 and 220 820 48 89.

I know that the Mercedes Part numbers have a structure but I do not know it well enough to be able to determine if I can safely use the CD to refresh the firmware in my Comand. I believe that the 7th and 8th digits are the ones that I need to know about re number structure.

Can any one here tell me the significance of these two digits or better still tell me if the update CD I have is compatible with my Comand ???

Thanks in advance for any help

Guessing.. numbers listed on the CD are for square format COMAND, not the 16x9 widescreen you installed.

More Guessing .. Wouldn't the MY03 COMAND you installed take a DVD for any upgrades ?

Hi Ex-Fed

I believe the one I have is CD based, it does take the CD Nav disk that I was using in the old 2.5 unit and the Test CD I have used also works.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks Bullethead

I will take that number down to the Stealer and see if they have the latest CD for my unit.

It will be a interesting fact to see in what manner the software version of the comand will change after installing form new CD.

In the original COMAND 2.5 (the square-faced one) one of the changes was that a Mercedes symbol came up on the flash screen instead of the "caution while driving" message.

My intention is to have an example of a update. If someone buys a used car it is possible to see in the "system"-messages of the comand about a update-
