Greets.

I was hoping to get some insight into WHERE I can source these things.

In my quest to diagnose my Trunk "Close Assist" function on the W140, I think I've narrowed the problem down to Leaking Seal.

Like a doof, I just peeled out the O-Rings from the Vacuum fittings (probably damaging the plastic and rubber) , thinking the local dealership would have them a dime a dozen.....

Dooohhhh. My usually knowledgeable and experienced Parts guy knows exactly what I need. THIS time, he gave me that blank look... He'd never heard of the Plastic and Square-ish Rubber O-Rings.

He went back to his O-Ring barrel, and got me some one which were "close"...

Anyway, I've done BW- Searches, and Internet research.... I've come up with a Goose-Egg.

Does anyone have any insight to help me out?

Sorry, the photos didn't turn out very clear... but you can see that the OEM RUBBER O-Ring has "Squared-Off"... not your average "Doughnut" contour.

Thanks in advance.

gasket buffet
hose gasket - Google Search
Page 8 shows a pack of 6 of 1/4" size from cwcsupplyusa.com
etc.
MBVIS,

Thanx for taking the time to find that....

I'm a bit paranoid about a "O-Rings-R-Us" source....

It seems that there is such a tight tolerance with these particular O-Rings... on the W140, these function both as Pressure AND Vacuum seals (It first places the the Handle to PRESSURE, and later draws a Vacuum to Proof the Closure mechanism.)

The O-Rings the Dealer gave me "Looked" the correct size... but didn't work.

Plus, those "Plastic" Rings look like they need to be a PERFECT fit as well.

I guess I was hoping someone would have a "Mercedes Specific" supplier.

I hope all is well with you back "Home" in Kaliphornia... boy how I miss it......

Would that the O ring came round like the dealer generic and transformed to square edge after long period of use to the shape of where it sit or seat. What surprised me it was stumped on G-AMG who I respect and expect to known more than many of US.

There is no such thing as square orings.
The shape come from the rubber changing the shape over the years, what happens faster for poor quality rubber, longer for good rubber.
My local dealer didn't hesitate to charge me $5 for 8 mm oring, while later I bought the fuel tubing with 2 the same orings mounted on it for $3.60 from Duval.
In my county I do have specialized oring shop, where although for premium prices, I could get any size oring I needed so far.

EAT MY SHORTS!!!

It is with great pleasure that I can say, "EAT MY SHORTS!!!"

You really had *ME* wondering if I was dumber than I look.....

With everyone harping on the SAME thing, "Oh, it's a ROUND O-Ring which has been 'Flattened' Over Time....", I still could not believe this. The rubber was soooo soft, i couldn't believe this theory.

So, what I did was order up a few NEW connectors, and "Sacrificed" one of them to prove
my point.

Well, Read'em and weep!! FLAT O-RINGS!!

With this being said, I guess now I can shop "O-Rings-R-Us" with this mystery solved.
