On my 99 E-320 the rear seat belt is stuck in it's fully retracted position and it wouldn't release.
I tried to remove the lower seat and unbolt the bolt that holds the seat and the other end of the belt (near the fuse) so as to let it rewind further in the hope that it would be released but it winded further and is stil stuck and doesn't release at all.

Can anyone help please.

Thanks much.

Thanks so much for the response and the parts information.
Is there a DIY for this somewhere ? Is it easy is it to replace oneself.
So the part you mentioned is the belt as well as tensioner/release mechanism- right.
