...(sorry, but i'm a rookie benz owner)
1. I would prefer a single disc in-dash? Is this possible without going through a dealer?

2. Is it true that my only option will be a 6 disc in the trunk and that it must be a mb changer?

Any advice is appreciated...Mike Upton

I can only suggest if you do not have the BOSE…
For the aftermarket in-dash CD, pull out the factory unit and see if it has 3 plugs in the back that look like (http://www.beckerautosound.com/1492.html) If so, you can get the VW (Yes, VW) adapters from Circuit City: 1st - Metra model 80-1784, connects to you factory harness, 2nd adapter to the aftermarket head unit, model will depend on the brand of the new head unit selected – no wires to cut. The antenna adapter is also needed Metra model 40-VW10. Sometimes around the holidays Circuit will through in a free installation with the purchase of the head unit, you just pay for the adapters.
As for the changer:
There is a company called PERIFERAL (http://www.peripheral-aamp.com/periph_products/cd_changer_autos/mercedes.htm) that makes an interface cable to Alpine CHM-S620 (6 disk changer) that should work with your car. The part number is likely to be MBZALP9, check for the 10 pin rectangular connector in the trunk or call them 727-572-9255 for more info…
I hope this helps, have fun!
