Hi All,

I will be dropping my oil pan in a few days to replace the oil level sender unit...its been leaking. I purchased the car several months and needed to replace the lower oil pan then since the previous owner had cracked the threads and it was leaking oil by the oil plug. When I last had the pan down..I believe the timing chain guards were accessible? My 2005 S500 4matic has 145k miles and as far as i know..there are no issues with the timing or any kind of noise from the chain guides. I was thinking more as preventive maintenance since I need to drop the oil pan again. Any suggestions?

To replace the timing chain guides requires a complete strip down of the front of the engine. A very big job.
