apparently, the s600 has a host of problems when they do arise, and seeing that you are at the 100k mark(which is when a lot of things begin to give out in my personal experience) expect on spending some money.....unless it has been excellently maintained(with proof,) i wouldnt do it

+1 On proof of maintenance
+1 bajillion on getting this car to another trusted Mercedes tech (I'm sure the forum has shops they can recommend in the Dallas area)
A full diagnostic scan will find any and all things wrong, well that and get it on a lift, poke around, maybe even finish with a good swift tire kick for good measure.

Check out the suspension (ABC) thoroughly, looking for the slightest leaks in the hydraulic lines and the struts. Otherwise it is a fabulous car to drive. Budget $3,000 per year for repairs, this being on top of normal maintenance.

If you got big cojones - go for it. If you got big brains - walk away. It's the most wonderful car on the road when it is right. When it's not it will make you and your wallet cry.

Think of it as dating a stripper. She's hot and freaky. Looks nice. and everyone wants to get some of that. But once you take her out on a date or home to meet the parents you will unveil a list of issues that will cause you nothing but stress and money. After you get treated for the inevitable chlamydia, you may find some underlying Herpes which won't show for about 2-3 months. Oh and I hope you like visiting her in rehab. So when you're out a dinner with her, you look like a star but inside you're burning up, literally. In between liberal applications of ointment and visits from your local police , you'll be kicking yourself. My vote - NAY

naynaynaynay it is not a very good deal cause my dad had a 2006 s500 and when we traded it in it was only worth 10000 and the mileage was only 40000 ish and the s class has way to many widgets and stuff all those cost a lot to fix at a service center.

My experience has been, in 3 years of ownership, repairs costing about $6,000 (done at my local dealership) and downtime of about a week and a half. The repairs consisted of replacement of the ABC pump and the ECU along with both coils. One of the struts was replaced under warranty. I don't know about the longevity of the engine but I put on about 6,000 miles per year and I only have 33,000 miles on the odometer. Perhaps the TT versions of the V12 are better than the non-turbo.

some things to consider

A wise one on this forum once said "there is nothing so expensive as a cheap mercedes"

At 100,000 miles it is plugs & wires time... Parts alone $400-$600 labor if you aren't a diy guy will be at least the same as parts.. SO before you take delivery , you are already in for the 1st grand.

Fuel economy while gas is cheaper in TX, this will consume more than just about anything on 4 wheels.

Absolutely have a mechanic connect it to the Star Diag System and get the full readout. Carfax to see history too

A fully informed buyer can make the most intelligent decision, get all the facts you can unless you have a bunch of oil wells and money just spurts out of the ground for you :D

Then, unless the car was totaled or completely trashed, you got RIPPED OFF, Big Time!!

Even on ebay those are selling for 25,000+
