Sometime in the past my 406 and it's Pintle Hook went their separate ways. I'm hoping a fellow forum member will have one for sale or may have a lead as to where I can find one.

The bolt hole spacing is 83mm x 56mm with a 55mm hole centered between the 4 bolt holes. I'm assuming the center hole is for mounting either a Rocklinger or Ringfeder type hitch. I'm not towing a trailer so I really just want a typical Pintle Hook to attach a tow chain to, but I'll take anything that fits.

Thanks for your help!

The Ringfeder RU K1D pintle hitch on my 404 matches that bolt pattern. I've seen several of these hitches on 404 trucks, so they appear to be common.

Hope that helps.

Thanks to DokaTD, my 406 has got his hitch. :)

It's a RingfederRU-K1D... just what I was looking for.

Thanks, KC!

Nice chains. Where did you get them from? I can't find any here in the US for a decent price. Something like those they want at least $1500 for a PAIR. $3000 for 4 is pretty steep.

Looks like your tires are on the same as mine, having the cups facing forward on the front and rear. In my manual, it says to have the cupping reversed on the rears.

Excellent, glad it worked out. Sorry it was so filthy.. But the oily dirt was a nice protective coating apparently. Let me know if all the parts are good. I have another parts pintle if you need any springs or pins etc.

My 1300 manual says for offroad work, the tires should be on in the correct rotation. And for onroad ops, the front tires should be turned around to rotate in reverse direction.

I'll have to double check when I get home, but I don't think that's right (at least what MB says in the 4XX manual)

Not a problem, it cleaned up easily with a wire brush. I lubricated the zerts and oiled the sliding locking handle and it's working like new!

I got lucky there, the chains came with my 406 from the previous owner (as did the 9' 2" BOSS V Plow). I Have no idea who the manufacturer is, but they look like RUD.

Yes, they're all four pointing forward. I mounted the tires before I got a user manual, or I might have mounted them differently. The cupping should be reversed on the rear for highway use. For off-road ("cross country") all 4 should point to the rear. I think this is more important when mounting AG tires though (easy enough to change by swapping the left and right tires on the appropriate axle). When running chains like mine tread direction becomes rather a moot point! :D

Here's a scan from the 406 / 416 owners manual (page 57, section 3.7.4 ):

They do indeed look like RUD. You have about $3000 worth of chains on that mog. They sell for about $500 a pair on ebay.de, but not in the US. :(

Yep, that's what my manual looks like too. Like you said, probably more important for AG tires, but wouldn't hurt to have them reversed if you ever want to remove the chains and go through some dirt, snow or mud.

I really like these. With the horizontal/vertical pattern, they would probably ride a lot "smoother" compared to a diamond pattern.
