Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew about how to change your stock navigation system to work as a dual purpose DVD and/or TV? What equipment would I need and what brand/costs? I thoght it would be nice for the passengers to watch as I drive further distances. Or should I just get a separate screen for dvd/tv? Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone done this? I heard the quality of the benz screen is very good for this purpose.

Not happening in a W210. The system is CD based, not DVD and cannot be upgraded. The entire car would have to be re-wired (fiber optic-ed?) The W211 DVD COMAND system wouldn't fit in the dash anyway.

Assuming you have a US spec comand with a blank or SAT button, you could connect a TV tuner to it (with two RCA plugs for DVD player, PS2...)... you can add head rest screens (from SAVV, for instance)... You can get the settings changed through Stardiagnose to get TV while in motion...

It is NOT possible to get the DVD comand installed in your W210. Fast55 was right about that...

Did any of you guys use this company before or know someone who has? I really want to do this. I just hope they have a dealer in the southern Cali area. Any idea how much it should cost? Hey Fast55, did you get your car back yet from doing those upgrades? How is it now?

I emailed Nav-tv but the email was sent back to me as undeliverable due to no space on their email server or something. I guess I'll try again later.

Damned weather is screwing up testing it!! Anyway, post again if you hear back from these guys. Not too worried about having TV/DVD, but I'd like to know the costs/features and feedback from someone who has used this solution. If it would fit in the dash, I seriously considered retro-ing the W211 DVD based system. I guess it can be done, but the whole car would have to be torn apart to replace the COMM cabling. Even the CD changer would have to be replaced! Nearly choked when I got a ballpark price, and it doesn't look as if anything is going to fit the head unit in the dash.
This setup might be the way to go.
