Hi All!

I know that there are several members who live in Greece, so I will throw this request out to all.

This summer like all Summers since 2001 I am going down to Greece with our ML (now the new ML 320 CDI which I will get tomorrow!)[:)][:)][:)]Since we have 5 weeks vacation in Austria, we usually spend three weeks on holiday in Greece (Chalkidiki, Kassandra, Nea Moudania. This is a great area to have an ML where you can make day trips to isolated beaches which are only reachable with via very basic roads, or light off-roading. Since it is still now recommendable to drive through Serbia, Macedonia or Bulgaria due to security reasons, I usually take the ferry from Venice to Igoumenitsa. The Vienna to Venice part is quite easy autobahn. My problem always starts in Greece. Although it is about 420 kms from Igoumenista to Potidea where the hotel is, I always get somewhat lost. This is due to poor signs, new constructions and various other issues such as my poor Greek knowledge. Although my ML does not have a navigation system installed, I would like to add an aftermarket system such as TOM TOM or similar. For Austria the Nav. systems are quite good and detailed. What I really need however is a good system for Greece, including highways, main roads and minor roads.

Can anyone offer me a suggestion ?? Thanks Steve

Well..Steve,navigation is a big problem in Greece. We made a few steps at the olympic games but only for some main highways and for the city of Athens but not the whole of it.So better to have a map with you, just to be sure. It's really a shame!BTW..wenn du in Halkidiki bist und moechtest schreib mir[;)]

there are professional systems that taxi drivers have, they function properly but no idea where you can get them outside of Greece. Somebody told me from the UK it is possible to get a system like this.
You pay for installation and also a monthly/yearly subscriber fee.If I see a taxi with it again I'll ask him and tell you. Also when you arrive to Greece go and buy a big street map. They look like books and are mostly green or red.Take care that it shows the area where you are and the sourrounding area.
For example:Thessaloniki and Halkidiki area.
If you want I can find one for you and send it to you. They are always of great help.
In the meantime you can perfectionize your greek reading abilities.
Also look at the Nüvi Navigation: www.garmin.de
It is supposed to be very good.It shows even GPS kilometre. Then in the Aldi discountershops in Germany there have to be Medion Navi with all Europe
