I am new to this...I have a question: I purchased a 2011 E-Class Cabrio in Germany from the factory in Stuggart. It is American Specs and came pre-loaded with all the European Maps and in English. I am now relocated to Panama City, FL and when I picked up the vehicle and went to the dealership in Atlanta, they ordered me the new DVD and had it shipped to me...I tried to follow the directions and run it but the system does not recognize the version. Would I need to take this in to the nearest dealership or is there some "hidden" menu I would need to access to get it to work? Thank you in advance!

I don't know how to access the menu; in earlier COMANDs, the unit is set to accept DVDs associated for a particular region of the world. The DVDs are also usually encoded with a region; a disc encoded for one region will not play in a player or reader encoded for another. The U.S. is in Region 1; Europe is in Region 2. MB has made access to the menu for encoding DVD regions much more difficult because folks were ruining their COMANDs by making changes not intended for the unit. Among other things, there is a limited number of times that a DVD drive can be re-coded for DVD regions.

My best guess is that your dealer will have to re-encode your nav drive to Region 1 in order to allow it to read and load the maps you purchased - as lkchris suggested. In all likelihood it has only been coded once, and should accept a new region code.
