"Hello" W140 members..:).. I'm new here in the W140 forum....This is new to me W140...:D..

Update for 11-23-13

New holidays project...

My parents offer me the W140 S Class.... The S Class is easy to get in & out of the car..... So happy.... They say, I could use it as long as I need & fix it up the way I like it..... Since they don't drive the S Class anymore.....

The only thing they ask me to do is take care the S Class as it was my just like the SL & pay for the following thing such as: fuel, insurance, dmv registration fees, all the maintenance, and all the accessories....

Lucky I got a lot of Mercedes Benz accessories in the garage.... Have to see what I can put on the S Class.....

When it all done I will post some pictures & the lists on what I have done to the car.... Hopefully it be done by the end of the year.....

Stay tuned everybody... The journey just begun....:)
Recap....^^^....

Update... 12-25-13.... Holidays project done...:)

A special THANK YOU to my lovely parents & wife..... I also would like to THANK YOU friends and members for your kind advices and supports....

All, I could say the 1996 W140 S320 is a great car to drive with the mileage of 80,000 plus..... Everything tight no rattling....
It easy to drive & ride like a dream.... As for getting in & out of the car it easy too, without any problem or help... I LOVE it...!!!..:). It got a lot of nice factory options such as multi contour seats driver & passenger, Bose sound system, glass moon roof, rear window sunshade, etc..:D..

The expense that coming out of my pocket are:
Insurance, dmv registration fees, new tires, 4 wheel alignment, new battery, and maintenance such as all the fluids service like motor oil, tranny, brake, coolant and filters, spark plugs,etc.....

My wife & I got a really good work out of detailing the outside, under, and inside of the car.... It got to be Tony spec show car quality not showroom quality.....lol...:D..

The idea is to bring back the 90 era look with the stock OEM accessories... I hope I'm doing it right..... Glad there no expense on those parts....

The accessories that I found in the garage and put on the S Class are.....

Exterior upgrade....
Chrome rims ( a good friend did it for free.... Thank you....!!!...)
Mercedes Benz logo center caps
Star air valve caps
OEM Bosch HID headlight
OEM Bosch 1998 taillight
Mercedes Benz chrome license plate frame
debadge S320

Factory options...
multi contour seats driver & passenger

rear window sunshade

Interior upgrade...

Great mileage with the stock 320 engine with full detail natural look.... Don't like the oiling detail look....

Welcome!

Sad to hear what happen'd to you Tony , congrats on the good looking w140 .
Very nice collection of the SL you have ,i always like'd that SL model more then any other & nearly purchased one in silver as well (picture below) ,similar to your's but my enthusiasm for the w140 prevented that ,my 600 has now fitted the same wheels like in the picture below, the other once got dirty to quickly so i got rid of them.
I have exactly the same trophy like yours with a 2 for 2nd written on top when i came 2nd in the concourse d'elegance with one of my other cars ,plus all the books & prospects, tonnes of pictures of the making of the car etc etc .
There's only one thing i can suggest to you ,If you don't drive the SL's anymore and they are just standing in the garage to be admire'd,try ,if you like ,swapping over the wheels from either one of the SL's over to the 140 ,since you are enthusiastic inaf about Merc's,i'm sure you would like a nice view of the car you are stepping into driving ,i wouldn't hesitate a second to do that of which I have done ,didn't like it so i re'swapped everything back,if i don't like it i swap it back over you know what i mean ,you got nothing to loose doing that because you have the wheels that fit ,trust me you will enjoy the w140 even more .
Hope you get better soon .

Here is the Reason why i swapped rims over & didn't like it in 2008: >>> http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w140-s-class/1395708-how-obsessed-you-your-w140-2.html <<<

Thank you Chris for your great advice.....

Every week I switch driving the R129 & W140...:)..

I would have switch the rims to see what the W140 would look like but the R129 rims have a very low off-set with would not look good on the W140...:(..

I have a lot of reading catch up to do in the W140 forum... ..Right now I enjoying reading some of your thread ..... Man you are the KING of W140......:thumbsup:......

Right now all I could say, you my friend got a SWEET RIDE....:)...

Thanks Tony ,that makes a fair few of us here with sweet rides ,wish we could all meet up .
Offset of a 35/38 is ok and looks good any lower & then you might have trouble, the R129 & W140's underneat the skin are almost identical .
Another little helpful tip i can give you is that, if you need to modify the drivers seat to twist/turn around for you to get in & out easier ,look for the base of the seat from a Mercedes Sprinter ,the drivers chair base turns around completly towards the door, this way you wouldn't need to move your spine at all .
With a slight modification like welding the w140 chair onto that base ,it's done ,pretty easy done if you ask me .
Exuse my English writing skills within my threats you come across,i have within my business others that write for me ,i cant get them to write here on Benzworld for me ,otherwise by the time i spell Mercedes-Benz it will end up written Honda, lol.

Deadly upgrade

Just noticed that there was an upgrade made to the steering wheel that would prove to be quite deadly in a collision. That three inch metal disk will become a significant projectile. Bound to remove head, brain, or pass clear through the soon to be corpse of anybody in the car. Air bag going off will surely result in one death from the addition of unapproved item.

What is the market value for R129 in Australia? That's a nice SL. Why don't you have both? :D It's nice to have a SL & S class in the garage.
