Card stamped "28. April 1971". Code 624 "Schweden Ausführung". Sold in Sweden in 1971 and well kept ever since. Now I do not remeber the exact milage but around 9 500 kilometers. 4 speed manual Getriebe.

It will be celebrated by getting the proper steeringwheel back.

Wow - M116 D-Jet. I just made a comment in another thread about how few of these are still around.

I have been in an early W107 with the red interior (including dash) and it was fabulous. Better then the photographs.

Looks fantastic Sindbad. How many km total has it been driven?

My 72 350SL (044) is almost a year older - Delivered to first owner in Canada in April 1972. Build date not stamped on datacard like yours, but may be on the car. My car has done about 160k miles. Not quite up to your car's standard!

Beautiful car . really love that ivory and red combo, real sharp. I miss my 72, even though I love my 560, i’ll always have a soft spot for my first.

Very cool example. Mine is number 422, build date of September 71 but it is an 044, NA model.

Anyone know when the first 107 was built and which version?

First production 107 was built in April 1971 and was a 3.5L 043. (From Brian Long's book -Mercedes-Benz SL & SLC 107 series. It has an interesting chapter on the early development that started in about 1965. They even considered a Wankel engine! Part of their team didn't want to build teh convertible - just the hard top (SLC)

Sindbad blocked out his VIN, but it must be an early number. His engine is #83.

The book I referenced earlier, does say that 3 were built in November 1970 in a pre-production trial run. Then full production started in April 1971. Presumably all 3.5L , 043s.

Your club member must have one from that trial run! Should be a real collectors model!

Very cool that you think about your car's actual birth DAY! I'll have to check the actual build day on my car.

The plate on drivers side pillar has build date, I believe.
