Wow...Impressive....is that HRE? How much were these nice wheels?
HRE style 845 retail for about $1400-1600/wheel. You can get the discounted down to 1300 if you as around.

Better than the SL, C5 and Viper SRT...just an awesome ride. I am pleasantly surprised and the tightness and nimble ride. Exceeds my expectations and I've only driven it for 100 miles or so. Although, the whole break in period will be very difficult to adhere to[}:)]

Yeah, you don't need to lower the chassis either. Where you are I believe the cars sit lower coming from the factory already. I'm sure you'll enjoy your new rims on the 55. Its a kick ass car.

Would 245/40 in the front rub?

Thanks on the sig comment. =)
I wouldn't recommend it. The diameter would be too much of a variance from the OEM.

Yes it was a CLS they had 3 in the waiting area. 1 CLS silver, 1 blue/black paint job with a sport package and a black CLS AMG just delivered that day with a $99K tag on it. Already sold.
They are beautiful cars in person. Pictures don't do them justice.

Thanks for the compliments on my car. All SLKs are lookers to me. The wheels are like jewelry. To each his/her own[:)]

HRE Owners

I am looking into getting new 19" wheels for my 55. I'm looking at HRE 840R or 448R. I like the look of the flat lip. Not sure about the rivet look or not.

Here's the questions...

Since you have the HRE, do you drive aggressive or not? It seems HRE makes various wheels, some designed for spirited driving and some that aren't? How do they stack up? Any concerns?

How about wheel weight? Does anyone know what the stock wheel/tire weighs? What's the change in moving to HRE 800/400/C series?

Jmejones, you indicated that you have 8.5 and 9.5 wheel widths. I didn't think HRE came in 9.5 width, only 9 and 10. How did you get that width? I think I'd go with 8 in front and 9.5 in rear with 225/35 and 265/30.

What do you think? I want the staggered lip look. I also would rather have the tire extend past the wheel. Just in case I touch a curb, I don't want rash. Plus, I dont like when the wheel looks like it protrudes past the tire.

Thanks in advance.

Just a note on HRE, I know of various tracks which have banned this make of wheel to be used on their tracks due to the rims failing and causing a safety hazard to all drivers.

Under hard corning and racing conditions, there have been various times where the rim would just fail under the stress.

Personally I think HRE makes a beautiful wheel, but for the price and what I've seen in terms of their reliability, I don't think they're worth it. When you buy a set of HREs you are paying for high performance, the wheel should not fail under high stress loads.
