Especially my driver's side door.

Good morning folks... hope you're all well and keeping fit!

Any advice on which part I need to replace. I have a feeling this is gonna be unfixable if I leave it too long.
Thanks in advance

Check Strap indeed. If you order the part and replace it, keep in mind that you'll want to pack a lot of grease into the check strap before you install it, putting it in dry will lead the same problem in a short period of time. Also a great chance to grease up all the window tracks for the regulator with the door open. Good Luck!

Try and purchase those that a plastic cover on the check strap and give them extra lube inside it . . Or you can have a go at getting some oil in to them .. I use a syringe with a small bore pipe on the end so you can twist it inside its guess work but i have done mine .But once you start you have to do this every time the go off like a gunshot. Do something about this ASAP if you dont it can damage the mounting holes inside your door .And i have also seen this take the front wing out also, as the check straps come out of the door .The door when opened swings out hitting the front wing .

yup check straps. and my experience is that once they squeak, there is no easy way to lube and get them quite again for any length of time. So, off to the dealer and get new ones.

One thing I learned in this era of outsourcing. I needed a check strap for my W210. Because of a slight squeak.

Independents order a lot from third parties such as worldpac in the US because the markup on dealer items is not that much for them

He ordered a Febi - A German company - now Made in China - and said it was worse than the old one he took off.

so he ordered the replacement one at the dealer.

never heard of buying a new check strap and putting more grease in. But hey, if it works…

A good quality one should last many years.
