Hey forum.

Recently I had a new exhaust system fitted.

2.5" high flow muffler and high flow cats, they were fabricated by an exhaust shop in my area.

I'd like to thank Stormtigers for recommended me to the exhaust shop.
This is the new voice :)

So I know some traditionalists may not like it. But I love it. What do you think?

do you have a ball park of what setting up a system like that normally costs?

Yeah, in AUD lol.

Its a custom built system by Glenroy Exhausts in Melbourne.

The 2.5" high flow muffler was $595, and the high flow cats were $450. All up though, he did it for $850, add another $100 for twin tips.

well worth it at that price! sounds better than any of the aftermarket muffler and cat back applications I've heard

It really is. I can't believe its the noise coming from my own car.

But other than the sound, I feel that there is more useable power lower in the rev range, and its much more willing to rev, especially in the high end. It's smoother, it changes gears more eagerly and it can maintain speed much easier and at 100km/h its just as quiet.

Fuel consumption has improved somewhat, I can't tell yet since I'm flat footing everywhere I go :p

What you want the neighbours to think I've turned hoon ???
Maybe tomorrow I'll have a go at it - won't sound as good as yours though.
Remember I only had a straight through muffler added to the end so rest is standard !
But it's nice and deep but it doesn't crackle when backing off !
The bloke round the corner with his COMMON-DOOR does enough of that at 11pm ! LOL

(Now if I could only get it to do a dump and burn like my RX3 rotary and the RAAF F-111's used to do ! That used to scare the pants off any driver behind me !!)

Oh and BTW we haven't seen any pictures of "your beast yet" - come on give !!!

How about a pic of the works underneath, or a decent drawing?

Kevin
JEEZ Kevin - that's like asking a man to drop his pants and show you his boxers !!

If he doesn't come up with the goods I'll sneak around to his place in the dead of night and take some spy photo's :D

Yeah, I'll try to take pics of what I can. I can't drive into the driveway anymore, I don't want to damage the new exhaust like the old one. So Jacking it up is gunna be hard. I'll see what I can do, I don't have the car now, its in the shop.

Just burst a water pump, thats $600 right there for a pump, shocker and a new fan. Bloody hell.

Oh Bugger !! That's a bloody nuisance. Maybe we need to search for a "parts 300" so we can raid the damn thing ! How come a new fan ?

Just draw it out on paper, including the sizes and printer copy/post. I don't expect you to jack the car up in the air just for a pic.

@Stormtigers, new fan because the old one was very loose, the clutch and tensioner also went. So all were replaced as well as the belt and new hose pump. All in all, the car runs much better and the fan does a better job of cooling I think. But its a little loud, I can't hear my lovely exhaust :( I was going to buy a 'parts 230E'...well it needed a new head gasket and the guy wanted $600 for it. Then that very minute that I was about to pull up to his place, he calls me and told me he sold it to someone else for $200 more, even though we shook hands on it!!!! Gah, I'd have given him the damn $200 extra.

@Sheperd, haha you haven't seen me draw... innanimate objects could draw better than I do. Pictures would be the better bet to get any details. I promise when I get the drive-way fixed and jack up the car I shall document the design of the exhaust. Although, I am told its unique to the shop I bought it from :p

Except for the brand of the mufflers & resonators/collectors etc, it's just pipe & weld. We can copy it....thanks for any help!

Sorry Mate, the cars gone. Has been a long grieving time in which I've stayed away from benzworld as to not see another C124...

Sorry I couldn't get any detailed pictures for ya.

Yeah its gone. I had just gotten the car to 100% in EVERY aspect. It was just the way I wanted it, 2 years in the making. Gave it a cut and polish and took it out for a drive to check out an ML we may have bought (but didn't). Was at a set of lights when a city council car rear ended it.

Thanks, I might just get another coupe if I find one in my budget.
