My 280SE Coupe has started to develop a little stumble at idle.. Still never dies
But will hesitate/ stumble on acceleration kind of power lag.. Runs fine at speed
Issues occur mainly from the car is at stop and then taking off??
maybe wires, filter, have had no issues with this car for the 2 years I've owned it

Any ideas would be great,

Thanks
D Smith

I think that most often is a result of poor spark on fouled plugs. It could also be timing not advancing when you hit the pedal. I am not sure, but I think most systems will regard the spark at idle and under vacuum, and when vacuum is gone, the spark should advance.

Try 14 to 18 degrees advanced with a timing light. Be sure to make sure the distributor is tightened down correctly. Also check the distributor cap for charred contacts. Easier to replace the distributor cap and rotor. In a pinch you can try sanding the contacts clean. Also check for fouled or old worn plugs. Be careful to notice the exact arrangement of the cables before working on any part of this.
