My 1st Benz 1980 280TE

Newbie to the Benz world, i would like to know if you guys think it was a good choice to trade my 1996 m-edition Mazda Miata 169k, good runner, for a 1980 Mercedes 280TE great running condition but needs new tires and has been repainted? very clean inside and out , rear wiper motor does not work, everything else seems to be solid. I traded because i plan to drive this baby from san diego to atlanta,,,what do you think?
