I went to the dealer and he had a about 6 sheets full of repairs on my ML from the first owner (WOW). I asked for a copy but he wanted $90 even after I had just spent $1,200 on repairs. I really would like to know what the history of the truck is, can some one please help... Thanks in advance guys.

When i bought it they showed me a car fax and it had no history of problems, accidents, etc... But when i went to the dealer because of an oil leak on the tranny coolant line they pulled a mercedes history of repairs made during warranty. Thats when my jaw dropped, well my jaw dropped when they gave me the bill but it was my blood pressure that dropped also.

I'm taking it to my indie mechanic this morning and he's going to make it like new again but I would still like to have a copy of the history without having to spend the $90. We are here to help each other and I need help guys. If you look through the forums I have contributed a great deal for the last 3 years and I will continue to help other members as much as I can.

Thanks guys.

I would call another dealership. The Dealer here in Charleston (Smith) were rude when I had asked for a VMI on a prospective preowned ML, but did (reluctantly) give it to me……then they turned into total rude asses and I went to OH to buy an ML.

One would think they would rather be forthright and disclose what has been done……but car dealers are rarely known for being honest.

Seriously, call the next closest dealership and ask them to fax you a copy of the VMI….also, check online and see if they have a comparable MB on their lot and ask for its VMI also.

My 2 cents :)

Hi DETANE,

Please also see the PM.

That was not me who did that for someone else. I guess I was lucky to find the dealer who sold my car new, and had done all of the A and B services for the first 50,000 miles. I was pretty sure where the car came from because it still had the front plate with their name on it. I was also lucky because I did not have that info until after I bought the car from another dealer.

That 1st dealer gave me a printout for free of all warranty work and also everything the customer paid for. (for Mercbear - this car had deer whistles at some point!)

$90 is outrageous for a few pages of text, and I hope you find a solution.

Sorry to hear about your problems and yes you contributed and help a lot of our members. as stated by Mercbear you might wanna call other delearship and stay away from the dealer, they are charging you $90 and normally you can get that for free.

Take care & enjoy the ride,

LMAO, yeah, I thought that was pretty hilarious too. They had been removed before I bought it and as far as I know, luckily their presence did not leave any scars on the car. The only reason I knew they had been there at all was from that "complete" service history I got from Astorg up in Parkerburg.

Sorry to hijack DETANE's thread ;)
