Muffler Question!

Can anyone please tell me the inlet-pipe diameter to the muffler on my 83 300D Turbo. I need a new muffler soon and I want to install a magnaflow or something similar. I know that the 300D uses a cylinder type muffler, but I dont know if another bramd will be the same fit. Has anyone done this before and if so:

1. Are the mounting points the same?

2. Is a special muffler needed because its a turbo diesel?

3. Does it fit well?

4. I need the pipe diameter for the pipe going into the muffler.

Does any one know the length and diameter of the stock muffler?

Thanks,
Adam

While talking about muffler, can anyone tell me whether the exhaust, all the way to the front, is it weld onto the engine? What is the front part of the pipe called?

Apparently, the owner before me weld the whole exhaust into one piece... the exhaust is still new, but it shakes like crazy in the bottom.

no it is not welded at all. the front part is called a down pipe.
Okay. I hope they didn't weld it on the engine...
