I had the muffler and resonators cut off on my 560SEC and had dual pipes ran back. At first I got this big grin my face when I took it for a test drive but after a few days of driving it without a muffler I order the Flowmaster 70 this morning. The car sound very nice at 3000rpm and up but lower rpms it starts sound like a Chevlle.

looks nice, and the job looks to be converted well, too.

How much of a performance difference, if any, did you feel? How is the sound at idle... and do you hear any sound inside while cruising at higher speeds?

I feel a little hp gain for sure and it has very sweet V8 sound now. There is a nice interior tone at cruinsing and racing sound at about 3000rpms.

The reason the tips look so seperated is because that particular Flowmaster is meant to be a center muffler with two outlet pipes routed to either side of the car. I had the same one on my old 190E V8 and I tucked it up a little higher than yours and angled the outlet tips so they were closer together. Those mufflers shouldn't be any more than $40-$50 if I remember correctly. Add the cost of whatever tips you choose.

Hate to bogart a thread, I'll keep it short.
1988 190E 2.3, Smoke Silver, Lorinser body kit, lowered w/Koni adjustables, 16" CLK "lightweight" wheels, 205/55/16 front, 225/50/16 rear Michelins, Flowmaster muffler and Magnaflow "bullett" resonator, euro 380SL motor/tranny with 420SEL intake manifold/throttle body, 190E 2.6 front radiator core support for engine clearance, 560SL radiator, 3.27 gears, 300E brakes, 400E front swaybar, some other stuff I'm probably forgetting, and one unhappy rear suspension. It probably only made 220hp or so with the intake and exhaust mods but it sounded like a Harley. Had to sell it about 3 years ago in between jobs. Was going to put a euro 560 motor in... oh well, good times.

how much was the flow master?
I pick up the Flowmaster at Summit Racing for about $125.00 with shipping.

Whoa! Does it have dual inlets? The dual inlet Flowmasters must be much more expensive. My Flowmaster was also ordered from Summitt and was about $60.
