Can anyone tell me why the dramatic difference in mileage between the 2006 and 2007 c230? Aren't they the same engine 2.5 v6?

Thanks

Different transmission. 2006 likely has 5 speed, 2007 has 7 speed.

Could also be different engine as well. M112 vs M272

Both years have the same M272 2.5l V6 and 722.9 7-speed AT. Looking at the EPA website, they list the MY2006 at 21/30 and the MY2007 at 19/25. There was a change in the EPA methodology that lowered numbers beginning with MY2008, but that's not in play here. Honestly, I have no clue. My guess is that the MY2006 numbers might have been based on a pre-production car, but that's all I can come up with!
