modifications, few questions

Hello:

i just finished doing some modification..Today i installed the 18' monoblock on 245/45 for low profile look. The car was tinted to 20%, which gave it the perfect tint, without looking too dark or too light.

Finally i installed bosch clear turn signals from bekkers.com.

The car looks 10 times better now. After i was done with all these modification, i took it out of the garage for the first time to a gas station, and as i was filling gas, i got 2 compliments with in 5 minutes..

having said all that, i got few questions.

I just noticed at night when i turned the light on, the clear turn signal looked yellowish, looks like the old one. I know it has to do with the bulb.

What color would you guys recommend to get a the original yellow bulb...? white, blue, red? are any of these colors legal? can one buy them from local stores rather than online?

Finally, i was reading some reports that cars 90% of cars that say they need premium gas, dont need it. Unless the car is a turbo or really special car, then unleaded will do the same. I have always put premium, its a bit expensive, but if i dont really need it like these reports say, then why do...Any comments on that?

pictures comming soon by the way..

For the corners, I noticed mine were kinda pale yellow too. Anything but orange as far as I know is "illegal" but thats no biggie. Did you say you wanted the amber look? Just put in an orange bulb. If you want the clear look, get some of those superwhite bulbs or ones that are slightly blue. Any Schmucks will have them.
The deal with the gas is that they say that because of the way they tune the ECU (engine electronics). The ECU comes optimized to run on premium unleaded for extra power, better burn, yadda yadda yadda. So if you run a lower octane gas, you're probably (notice I said probably, not will :)) going to ping. You can try an 89 octane (if its available in your area), but I wouldnt' go any lower than a few real points below. Start off with a near empty tank and just put in a few gallons and give it a try. If you ping, then put in some octane booster and see if it solves that. If it still pings a little after that, then just run premium, probably cheaper in the long run.

Just last night i changed my corner bulbs to orange. With my xenons, the white bulbs looked really pale.
Anyways, the orange bulbs have slight impact, however, the lights still look pale.

For gas, I only use 93. I dont go anything lower. Even if i have to eat 0.50cent noodles for dinner, i would still feed my car the best out there. But going one notch lower is your own decision, i say, if you love her, feed her the best. The book says the engine needs 91.

Post pic of your car, if you could...

My mods too, and an introduction

Hey Ghost, agreed. I put on 18 inch Carlssons and suddenly, I didn't look like "old money" anymore. The rims shaved 10 years off the car. Handling is great. My 'clear corners' mod was forced. Ha! I broke the clip on one of the old yellows, then lost it on the road. THE WEEK of my wedding! Big glaring hole up there, so I was forced to go to the dealer and I got an upgraded '97ish factory USDM blinker. I'm going to try to get the euro clears off EBay IF I can verify they are Bosch or equivilent. Anyway, would love to see pics of your ride. Peep my profile, view mine. I plan to get my gallery up and runnning. I have and always will spend most of my time at the greatest car club on the net http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/acuravigorandlegendclub/ (My heart. Come read and learn about the Vigor). However, I plan to become very active here, because the info is INVALUABLE.
