Can anyone verify whether an 02 ML55 came with a pair of electric fans in front of the condensor or not?
My car only has one huge electric fan behind the radiator and no pulley driven fan.
Thanks!

I'm with you ren. just checked my '00. the honker behind the radiator but seems like I've seen 43sqd's pdf's or something that displayed this...perhaps in a ps recall diagram. experts. are the dual condesner fans an '03 feature? ren what's your vin digit--in case they changed in '02 mid-stream.

Actually, after posting I did a few searches on Ebay and noticed that the ML55's seem to have eliminated the front electric fans in favor of one big one in back of the radiator.
Water temp's are fine so not worried about over heating. Was just curious after I looked at a ML350 and noticed it still had a belt driven fan and the dual electric fans up front.

ren, glad you are smarter than me. I didn't know the 55's went a differnt way on that. but still, aren't the radiators the same size regardless of mod? just curious now that I know this.

Did a quick search and our radiators may have a larger cooling capacity than other ML models. The part no's are different between ML500 and ML55 radiator.

Yep, I too have only the large cooling fan.

Totally normal for the ML55.

I believe the ML500s are configured in the same way.

The radiators are exactly the same with the same part number. But overall the 500 has a 12.7 qt. coolant capacity and the 55 only has 12.2 qt. capacity.

As i understand, all the >'02' (facelift) ML's have only the single large fan behind the radiator instead of the two smaller fans in front.

I don't think so.
Just checked out a 2003 ML350 and it still had the twin fans.

I think it may just be the '02+ V8s and the ML55 (regardless of year).
