Hi Everyone.
Firstly thanks for taking the time to ready this and helping me out.
I know this question has been asked a billion times over the internet and I have read a lot of them and I still cant find an answer to this.

I guess once they fix the issue its like they don't come back and let everyone else hanging know that happened and how they solved the problem. This issue seems to happening a lot and well I just cant figure it out online.

Some information about my money pit.

I'm an Xpat living in Hong Kong so talking to my mechanic......well lets just say its sign language at the moment.
I really need to figure this out or I'm going to drive her off a cliff.

The Problem:
Emergency Brake light on (e brake/handbrake) whatever you call it.
Now this light comes on at random times accompanied with constant beeping.

Its not on when start , it may not come on at all , BUT it will happen at least once per day.
I restart the car and it goes away, but returns at any random time after that.

Define random: It doesn't beep at all on the way to work , after work on the way home it will start beeping half way through the journey. Flat smooth surface or bumpy doesn't matter.
It wont beep today but then tomorrow it will beep during a drive around.
Note and something very annoying. when the mechanic drives it will not beep at all. but when I get it back and drive it home it beeps.

Back to information about the car:

There is no other light on, only the E brake light with beeping.
I have replaced the Brake pads last week.
Brake fluid is full
E brake switch is in place and works normally. When starting the car ebrake on light on then I release it and the light goes away, start journey. Like normal.
E brake is completely up.

If you could shed some light on this that would be great.
Mechanic doesn't know cause it doesn't happen when he has it.

Thanks

It seems that you set the Parking Brake all the time. Try not using the parking brake and see if the light comes on on your return trip home.

Martin, not sure if you got the issue resolved but thought I'd add what I've learned about this "brake light illuminated with beeping":

It's likely related to a bad signal from ABS wheel speed sensors, either due to dirt & crud built up in sensor cavity blocking path to the toothed hub gear.
OR A broken wire / defective sensor itself.

My ABS wheel speed sensors on my 18 year old 2002 ML500 are missing those little rubber grommet things that are molded into the wire. So they're undoubtedly moving around excessively at speed & this flexes the wire to a point of failure.

Last year this drove me & wife crazy - EXACT symptoms you described.

Once I pulled all 4 sensors & blew out cavity and cleaned sensor head, problem vanished for 10 months.

Then it came back but set a code: bad signal LR abs wheel speed sensor - I replaced it problem disappeared, again.

One of the others is going bad as once a month it does it again and always in a turn (I suspect a Front one for that reason.)

All I do is pull over & cycle key and its gone.

So. I'm going to replace the other 3 & be done with it.

Hope this helps you or others.
