Picked up this 2004 ML270 about 4 months ago. Had a bit of overdue maintenance and had 260k km's on it when I got it.
Was quite noisy when driving and a lot of feedback into the cab. Did fuel and oil filters and oil, air filter, replaced all four airbox mounts, changed the engine mounts, fitted new torsion bar bushes.

Engine mounts weren't too bad to do, the passenger side was the hardest as I took a bunch of other stuff off and did some cleaning etc.

Maintenance has made it run like a new vehicle. The engine mounts were fully collapsed and would have been transmitting a lot of NVH. The torsion mounts had broken and split so the bars were running against the metal mount and were creaky under compression and rebound.

Next on the list is front and rear diff fluids, front pads and rotors, and a trans service.

Mount are not ripped but in pretty bad shape. Have you checked the drive shaft center support bearing? They are another known failure usually they go about the same time as engine mounts. Transmission mount and axle carrier bushing (front and rear)
