Feels like I'm the only gal on this site: so at the risk of sounding naive, please educate me. Can one not get non-performance, not low-profile tires for a ML 350/2003 that can take the scorching AZ sun? Mine get ruined unbelv fast. The PHX dealership is no help. What is good for city driving then?

Luke,
Glad to see you post a reply too: to answer your question, right now I have Dunlop Sport 5000, 275/55 R17. And I've always disliked them: could feel the difference in ride even if they were slightly under/over inflated, and they got ruined real fast in the AZ heat.

So, really looking for opinions on other options.

Thanks

I don't have an ML, so I can't really make any specific recommendations for you. But tirerack.com does have tire reviews posted by both Tire Rack and people who have purchased that specific tire.

Jayhawk,

You are right; I am looking for a specific recommendation.
Thanks.

I have a feeling you made need to seperately re-post that specific question on TTR forum. Luke is busy and once he replies to a question he may not check back.

Also, I'm not sure he can answer your question because I have never seen a tire rated for road heat, specifically. Go the TTR and pick a few "sample" tires that look good to you and then read the many reviews they post on their site. That might be helpful.

in the 17" optional size for an ML350 the only tire I would recommend is the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza

It is a great tire, especially considering your stated needs ....

The Dueler H/L Alenza with UNI-T and UNI-T AQII is Bridgestone's light truck and SUV Highway All-Season tire that was developed for the drivers of premium, luxury sport utility vehicles. The Dueler H/L Alenza is designed to provide elegance with an edge, as well as year-round traction, even in light snow.

All Dueler H/L Alenza sizes feature Bridgestone's UNI-T technology to take tire behavior to a higher level by increasing comfort and control. In order to further enhance wet traction, select sizes have Bridgestone's UNI-T AQII technology which features dual layer tread compounds to resist the normal tread rubber hardening that results from the heat encountered during thousands of miles of use. As the tire wears, the special underlying high-grip rubber is exposed, helping offset the effects of wear on wet traction. The result is that UNI-T AQ II helps handle wet road conditions even as the tire wears.

On the outside, the symmetric tread pattern of the Dueler H/L Alenza has been ride and noise tuned to enhance comfort. Large shoulder blocks and a continuous center rib boost responsiveness and highway stability, while wide circumferential grooves, lateral notches and sipes help increase stormy weather traction. On the inside, twin steel belts (reinforced with spirally wound nylon for H-speed rated sizes) provide support under the tread area, while polyester cords stabilize the sidewalls and enhance ride quality.
