Have a 1981, Mercedes Benz 380 sl, just replace the frequency valve, because the 4 cylinders in the driver bank, were not burning, and find out that it is a hole, under that valve, that seems a vaccum, the one that I cover it and then the 4 cylinders in that bank, drivers side, began to work properly, dont know, since I change my mechanic, if there is a valve, plug or hose missing to cover that hole, picture attached. Thanks for any help

Hate that no one has come up with an answer. I looked at my '84 parts car and don't see anything like that and my engine has FD and the entire assembly removed.

My '85 380SL has a small hole but not the same. It is just a hole in the casting web, I suppose for drainage.

It looks like the manifold casting on your car is different at least from the '85.

Could this be a connection for the auxiliary air valve? This was only used on the '81 380SL and it has ports connected to the air flow sensor housing.

AUX air (idle stabilisation at cold) is at the front, next to CSV.

The port could potentially be for over-run air valve to reduce consumption...
It connects to the air box and to inlet manifold and it is opened by vacuum if throttle is at idle and engine produces more vacuum (bc it is driven by the wheels)

Could this be the port connection that is in question? The hose #22 between the idle speed air distributor & manifold?

Yes, should have noticed that. Last stab.. - EGR connection at manifold? I believe the 1981 still had the valve on the exh. manifold with the pipes to the intake. The diagrams are not clear but it looks like it connects in this general area.

Mine has one on each side and they're capped.
