My passenger side mirror has the following problem...it suddenly does not adjust upwards or downwards anymore. It folds inwards and outwards and the it adjusts right and left. All the wires have been replaced in both the mirrors. Could the switch be the culprit ?

I have noticed when i move the switch to the passenger side mirror adjustment setting, meaning top right, and i move the switch downward as if i want to move the passenger side mirror downward, both mirrors start to fold inwards a bit. Can this observation help with the diagnosis ?

That sounds suspiciously like a switch issue. But listen for relays clicking. Find a quiet place, put your head near the underside of the dash, turn the ignition to on (engine off), and listen for relays clicks, especially in mirror switch positions where nothing is happening at the mirrors. If you hear nothing, it's either the switch, module, or connections in between. You don't need to disassemble anything to do this.

I do hear clicking noises....so is it the module, switch, or the cables ?

Do you hear relay clicks in the switch positions where the mirror is not responding?
When you changed the wiring, did you test the motor that drives the mirror up and down? Forgot to ask that before.

Yes i hear the clicking when the mirror is not responding.
The wires were changed a few years ago and everything worked fine until a few weeks ago.

Hmm, since you hear clicking, I'd suspect either the module, or the motor in the mirror quit. Since the relays sometimes work in series, and two have to activate for certain functions, one of the relays could be defective, or there's a bad trace on the printed circuit board.
To test the motor, you'll need to trace the wiring with the diagrams I referenced in the other thread. See if you have continuity between the two wires for that motor. If you have continuity, try powering the motor directly thru the wires. If that works, you've narrowed it to the module.

How difficult is it to replace the module ? Where could i find another module ?

I showed a picture of the he module in the previous thread. Not hard to change.
But check the mirror motor first. When you said mirror wires were replaced, I thought it was as part of fixing this problem. Now that you've told us that was 2 years ago, I suspect the motor or the wires to the motor. The fact both directions quit at the same time, and you also hear relays clicking at the module, lead me to think it's a motor/motor wiring connection issue. Check that first.

You have to remove the wood trim, and it snaps out from the back
There are YouTube videos, and some DIYs in the stickies on how to remove the trim. It varies depending on whether you have one or two piece wood trim. Both are somewhat tricky.

I said it snaps out the back. Be careful and release the clips holding it in place, as the plastic bracket is likely brittle, and breaks easily. If it does, use JB Weld, to glue the plastic back together and to the bottom of the wood trim. That particular piece of plastic is no longer available.

Thanks, I thought you were talking about the wood trim when you mentioned snaps out the back.
I just wanted to make sure the switch removal is similar to my W201 which I did several times in the past.
