I'm rejuvenating a 404 radio box built in 1984 by Zeppelin. Under layers of paint, these symbols showed up. The pictures are not too good due to having to sand down to them.

Can anyone identify the insignia? The "L5" is common to both, one has crossed cannons and a red shield background. The rectangular symbol with the dot in the middle sort of reminds me of a gun sight.

I don't even know what country's symbols to search for!

Thanks,

Bob

Outstanding! My searches had failed to find anything useful.

So I know this was Artillery (the rectangle with a solid dot in the middle "stylized cannonball"), Company level (the single bar outside and above the rectangle, and probably Company L5, so far not found.

I cannot discern what the 3 tick marks at the top, inside the rectangle, might be.

When I find the company information, which should match the Coat of Arms, I'll know where the truck might have been based.

Thanks!

Bob

the first one is a "taktisches Zeichen"

Taktische Zeichen ? Wikipedia
NATO Military Symbols for Land Based Systems - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the 2nd ist the Coat of arms ore emblem of the mil. unit.

L would normally indicate a training company.
But the company number would normally be on the left. I have never seen the tick marks to the inside either.
Maybe it's not Bumdeswehr but another allied force?

From that, the match appears to be:

ArtLehrRgt 5

Formed 1956

Idar- Oberstein

The three tick marks might denote "Grossverband" as listed on the earlier link.
