Not from one of my MLs, but from my old 2001 210 E430. Took some planning to get to this pic.
Sold the car at about 365,000 miles. I saw it running around town for a couple years, but then no more.
ps - changed the oil when fss said to, usually at about 17,000-18,000 mile interval, for those of you that insist on 3,000 mile oil changes...

You guys are inspiring me to hang in there. Our ML500 is a baby in comparison with only 160k !

So many more miles left IF I can lick this ABS / ESP / BAS issue.

Keep on truckin !

Here's Millie ! Still running great. Change my oil every 10,000 miles using Liquid-Moly 5W40. Just had her hood repainted and she is looking good !!
Wasn't your 98 green?

I would like to have the good looking silver car in the background.

ESP/BAS/ABS lights showing up is as old as the W163 ML is - it’s a non-issue, and the long timers can attest to that. A lot of us have “fixed” just to have them lights pop up again. Don’t worry about it. If it shows up, test you braking system in a secluded open area. Chances are that you’ll find out that your brakes work just fine.

For me, it was back in Jan / Feb, just a nuisance occationally lit 3 lights. Then beeping came on. Then I made a change - 3 new VSS installed, then lights, beeping & limp mode. Now, not minor - no drive for 90+ days.

(Got reaquainted with my 12 Valve Cummins Ram truck - shes Analog doesn't quit)

Here's the post where I lay out what I belive is the root cause: Wrong sensors for my Chassis #.
They switched sensor design mid-2002 and new won't work with old, apparently.

This is extremely rare, my research suggests.

Saw one other guy - a youngster in Europe who had same issue & resolved after prior owner installed 3 'late sensors' when early were called for.

Reading his thread clued me into my root cause.

I won't KNOW 100% until new sensors arrive. But my 'Columbo moment' happened yesterday.

I plan to leave a Resolution Trail and a YouTube on this issue to benefit others.

Cheers - David in Texas
