RE: Do you change the oil yourself?

OF course, easier than my 911 porsche! and the 911 is a 20 min job! Save yourself LOTS of money and do it yourself. 8.5 Quarts, and a OEM Benz Filter. Done.

104,000 miles and I got my 16 year old to take over the oil change responsibilities. Every 5k with Mobil one.

1999 ML320 116,000 miles always with Havoline synthetic 5W40 every 12,000 miles as per MB flexible schedule. Runs great. Now uses 1 quart every 2000 to 3000 miles. It needed harmonic balancer, tie rod, normal cup holder problems. Responds well to transmission oil changes every 40,000 miles.

99 ML430 about to hit 89,000 miles.

I will be changing my spark plugs soon using the excellent tips from our forum.

No problems.

Had all my tranny fluids replaced at about 80k or so. FYI.

My 99 ML430 has 131,000 on it. I use Mobil 1 synthetic changed every 5000 miles. It consumes 1/2 quart between changes (It has a seeping leak somewhere around the front of oil pan).

Also change oil (Bottom drain only) myself using super syn 0-30. Get 30% better FSS interval than shop (when under warranty) doing top-sider draining.

The 55 now has an average from day-one of 17.434 mpg.
