Hello,
I started this project after i was done with my laptimer project. Now almost 6 months later i got a working unit now with a new LCD unit.
This means no more bleeding ATA Displays, but a nice new one with the correct temperature on it.
See the pictures.
Sofar its working on those:

All W201 W124 W126 R129 and so on

Check the pictures, its just like the original one, but this screen wont start bleeding for the next 20 years.

For more information you can Pb me or sending me an email.

Greetings

Marcel

Nice! Mine is blacked out. Been looking for a replacement unit, but I have heard that in 1987 there could be a 3 4 or 5 pin plug on the unit, so I would rather just fix the actual LCD.

My temp display missing some segments. Hopefully it is just the LCD and not the actual board itself. Do you have replacement for *Fahrenheit?

i've never had issues with the temp display going out, mine has always been reading the correct temperature regardless of what components i replace

although i would suggest the OP do a DIY for those on here instead of trying to price gouge for close to $50 a pop it's a screen replacement, it's not K-jetronic

After a few years i found my old topic.
To confirm i have made the the screens for the W124,w126,R129,W201 that share the same design Outside temperature LCD unit in the car.
Since 2012 i have made this part and its like a oem replacement and 100% correct and working.
If interested please lett me know, both celcius and fahrenheit for all the models see some pictures

I have a 1988 560 SEC (USA Spec). Do you have to disassemble the dash to get to the LCD? how do you think it will take to change the display on the first attempt? Do you make these displays yourself? Can you ship to the USA and how much do they cost?

Yes i have made those myself, back in 2014 when i started those, till today all working at my clients and also on my own cars i fitted my work :)
To get the unit out, just pull the cluster out of the dashboard. then unplug the connector on the back of the unit see picture and remove 2 small screws, then take out the unit from behind.

Yes i ship world wide not a problem, just send me a PM with your details

As a note on this, when I pulled my cluster I found a white wire coming from the LCD on my 89 190e. This wire didnt have a connector and I had to cut it to remove the cluster. Turns out this wire is for a speed sensor for the outside temp display. Just an FYI if you run into the same. I did not reconnected the white wire and when idling my outside temps runs way high. I'm going to toss a couple connectors on that wire next time I have the cluster out.
