Hello, i have a w124 , 200 E, Ke jetronic and won.t start.
Have the same behavior like in the video. The guy from the video solved the problem with a new ORIGINAL potentiometer.
I measure the old potentiometer and i was out of specs, i removed it and it was very worn.
I buyed one from ebay , aftermarket, at 50 euro, but the car won.t start, have the same behavior.
I measure the resistence again on the new sensor and it was zero.
Could the new sensor be faulty?
Or the 2 contacts who touch the potentiometer?

If the resistance is zero, that sounds wrong. So it is possible the new sensor is faulty. I cannot be sure.

There is a genuine Bosch potentiometer in the UK for a reasonable price:
.

I know it's more than double what you've just spent but it is Bosch. Do check that it is the correct number.

Good luck.

Hello,

With a healthy KE Jetronic system, your car should start even if every electronic sensor is bad or disconnected and ECU Unplugged.
The only Sensor that could prevent it from starting is the Crankshaft position sensor and this will lead to a NO Spark condition.

In conclusion, the AFM Potentiometer isn't really your main issue, you need to read what other members suggested to diagnose your problem and describe it to us so we can help you here. Start by identifying if your problem s Ignition or Fuel related.

Very true, as is all that you say.

Sadly, in my case, it was the EZL - the ignition module.

The Crankshaft sensor is reliable on these but I do hope that the OP's has died. Rather than the EZL.

Although I think his EZL may not be 2300€ in France, 1100€ in Germany. And 400+€ on eBay.

Fingers crossed.

Hi, Please don't be too quickly judging that you have a faulty crankshaft position sensor or EZL.
You need to diagnose and check first.

You need to find if your NO Start condition is ignition-related or fuel delivery-related so you know how to proceed.
Is your fuel pump working? can you hear the pump buzzing when you turn on the ignition?
Try to spray some starter fluid in the intake and see if it starts. if yes then you have a fuel delivery problem, if not then look for the ignition part. I'll be more than happy to help you here but you need to do some basic checks so we can be on the right way. you need to test step by step rather than replacing parts or you'll end up spending your money for nothing.

Yes, i hear the pump buzzing.
It begins feeling the car sometimes is misfiringvwhen i press hard to accelerator and one day i went 10 km and the car misfiring, sputtering all the time and then after i arrived my home, it didn.t want to start.
Another symptom was that in the summer after a 60-80 km in the hot days the car stop and i was able to start aftet 5 min. It happens 2 times this summer.
And my fuel pump was very, very noisy.
