i have an issue with my 2008 vito 109cdi, when i put the key in ignition and turn it all lights show up on the dash, even the handbrake one shows, once i start the car the handbrake light switches off along with all other lights.

My question is the handbrake is engaged so why does the handbrake light go off?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi,
The switch has to be in the pedal assembly, I have tinkered with the cables&levers underneath the vehicle and there are no electric wires.

Simple test: engine running, engage + disengage the park brake. Does the light follow?

Your 'light bulb' /LED is ok (shows at start-up test), so the problem is in pedal switch adjustment/wiring ???

It seems the switch is working, someone has disabled it from the ecu. The parking brake light, doors open light and brake wear light. Bought the van recently..

These speedo meters dont hav bulbs, do they?

I borrowed a friend's speedo and the handbrake switch functions.
