Hi, My vito 2003 108 cdi let me down the other day, this car I use it as a taxi and it's only on 140000 miles. it wouldn't fired up before after half an hour clicking . now the ignition warning light came on after it cut the power and whole electric in the car and my mechanic says who's polish. didn't understand him very well. he says computer has a problem, he changed the altenator, starter motor, do you think is it right? I'm fed up from this car. how much would it cost me? new computer or brain of the car? Anyone knows a reliable garage in Southampton?
Thanks

could be the "computer" or ecu.

before panicing, go around the earth points, undo the nuts/ washers/ studs etc and clean them with a wire brush (especially the stud mounting points)

start with the battery posts, then the earth point for the battery (black cable) then any earth points you find in the engine compartment and under the dashboard.

MOST electrical problems, in older vehicles, are caused by bad connectors ESPECIALLY earth contacts.

Vitos really ARE very reliable...... don't listen to the whingers.

I live in Southampton. Take it to D&G Autos in Bevois Valley. They used to specialise in Limousines and are experts in electronics and diagnostics. I wouldn;t let anyone else work on mine.

They're very good mechanics and will diagnose your problem a lot faster than most, their prices are reasonable too. They've just done a lot of work on a 108CDi I bought recently and they're very familiar with them.
