The soft top operation is hydraulic.
If the soft top is not working. it could be the hydraulic pump or the controller. Also the windows and rollbar must be operational before the softtop will work. So several fuses could be involved. There should be fuse cards inside the lid of the fuse boxes (in the engine compartment as well as in the trunk).

By the way if your car has the old (suppository type) of Alum-fuses, should just replace them all with copper ones and clean the fuse holder contacts. That will save lost of work trouble shooting electrical problems.

If your 92 is like the 97 look in the trunk fuse box. The 97 has a 40A? blade fuse for the top. even the blade fuse can develop enough corrosion at the contacts to become intermittent. I suspect the ol style fuse is even worse.
