Hello folks,

I'm just about to purchase a 1992 MB S class. The interesting thing about this car is that it has the V12 and S600 markings on it. It looks like a S600 but is in fact a 500 SEL.

Can anyone tell me why this would be the case? As well any problems with these cars. The mileage is 98000 kilometers.

I reside in Ontario Canada
The case is, is that the current (or a previous) owner simply put the 600 badges on it. I've seen 318i BMWs with M3 emblems on it. Any fool that knows anything about cars knows it isn't an M3, but the owner must think they are fooling someone. With the Mercedes S Class it takes more of a keen eye to spot the difference, so that car might be more up to fooling the average Joe. Just don't anyone try to pass off a 300E as a 500E!!!
