Monica, use only Benz coolant. It will help protect "delicate" aluminum engine components.

Use a 50/50 ratio of coolant to water (check the ratio with a gravity sensor, available at Pep Boys or AutoZone).

Change the coolant every two years. It is a cheap insurance policy.

Since you just recently bought your "new" W124, I would suggest changing all the vital fluids, that way you start a fresh maintenance schedule and you give your new toy added protection. [:D]

Easiest is to go to your local Benz dealer.

Or try Performance Products:

http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/productpage.aspx?pid=104023&name=Mercedes-Benz+Anticorrosion+Antifreeze

If you join the Mercedes Benz Club of America you get a 15% discount on your purchase.

Baby your ride Monica, don't buy the cheap AutoZone coolant.

I use only Benz coolant and cut it with DISTILLED water. I buy mine on line through a website that I found long before i stumbled into this site. You can probably get the stuff through the company that sponsers this site too.

Hi there,

Yes I do. MB's coolant is PH balanced and phosphate-free, and it is specifically formulated to protect all the plastic cooling system parts and engine. Let me know if you need a bottle as I have 2 sitting in my garage.

Btw, do not use the orange-color Dex-Cool coolant for your car, it is for GM cars only.

Do you all use specific coolant made by mercedes benz or something else, if something else what is it?
This is a very debatable subject, mainly because of misinformation. What ever you DO NOT start a what oil to use thread after this[;)]

The GO6 Zerex coolant is the same as MB coolant. But if you feel comfortable with buying something with the MB star on it then get the MB coolant from the dealer. The Zerex is cheaper.

This thread will not end despite this information..[;)]
