I took my mercedes to a mechanic to check my a/c system and he said the compressor was working and FULL.the problem is that something isnt making it kick on all the time.he said it was two reasons why this would happen.both are electrical,but i dont recall what they were.If you've had this problem before please let me know.

btw its a 1993 400e v8

You don't mention a year or model - and they have changed quite a bit over the years. The older models have 3 issues that come to my mind - a safety cut of switch on the dryer (if it is full and this is cutting out the switch is the problem); an electrical switch which is activated by the vacuum door (either a bad vacuum motor or switch) and the thermostat which turns the compressor on when warm and off when too cold.

The newer ones have all that and climate control - fancier thermostat really that also controls heat and the fan speed. In general I believe they would just replace this module.

But really you need someone familiar with your car's AC to diagnose and repair it properly - do it soon or you will pay all this money to have working AC in the winter.
