I am planning on buying a W123 sedan. I came across a 123series marked 250 on the boot and had a look at the engine. It is a petrol 6 cylinder engine and it has that familiar straight-6 growl. My question is, did M-B ever make a 2.5litre 6-cylinder petrol car? I had never heard of it.

Regards
Lemuel

Are you sure it's a 123?

No, the only six I know of in the w123 was the 2.8 L engine. Are you sure it's a w123? Needless to say, I, cf course, could be wrong.

2.0 L
2.3 L
2.4 L
2.8 L
3.0 L

Those are the gas and diesel engines I know.

You likely have a Euro. Does it have single or double overhead cams?

YES,
Mercedes did make a W123 series 250.
It's a 2,5 litre 6cyl., 129hp (early version) or 140hp (later version).
Very cool and nice engines,
but not really really merc-reliability.
