01E430: Driver's side fog was out so I asked that it be checked when I went in for 4-wheel alignment yesterday. Shop calls to tell me that the fog light electrical plug had melted and that MB has a kit to fix it - $227.97!! As I inquired some more, the SA told me that though MB has a kit (meaning they know this is an issue), they didn't have enough cases to issue a recall or TSB. Maybe there is a TSB. Anyone know how I can fix this without spending $227.97? Unfortunately I don't have a junkyard nearby where I can browse parts. Thanks folks.

I went the 1/4" spade lug connector route with mine about five years ago when they melted. I haven't blown a fog lamp bulb since then. I originally intended it as an interim fix until getting a repair kit, but once it made it a couple of years I forgot about it.

I keep meaning to take a pic the next time I have the belly pan off since no one ever seems to be able to figure out what I mean. ;)
