there is a 93 500SEL for sale in Bloomfield, New Jersey. the seller says the car needs work and will cut off in ten or 15 minutes. some guy told her it is a 1500-2000 job to fix it. does anyone know of an honest mechanic in or around Bloomfield, New Jersey that knows these cars please?

There is this shop in Clifton NJ with lots of Mercedes cars parked in front of it. But honestly I never used them.

I see a VW 16v Scirocco as your avatar and that makes me think...hmmm a Vdubber. Nice. Very resourceful community of motor heads lst I remembered. Search here for wiring harness DIY, spark and fuel with the LH fuel injection issues and blown catalytics. Get the car for small change, fix it up and roll in a nice auto! They're a big change of electronic gadgets but, research it 1st!!!! Google Mercedes specialists in your area while you're at it and check their ratings.

There is a section in this forum that rates independents. Also you can find the same rating system in the Peach Forum. One problem of course is the "date" of the recommendation. And maybe if you talk to the right guy at the local Benz dealer, they might steer you in the right direction. Remember that the local dealer usually doesn't like to deal with older cars. Tell them you have a '78 and are looking to restore it. That might spring someone loose.
