I've read on other posts about these CDs, where do I find these so that I can buy it? Over the past two years, I've bought two different ones on Ebay but they are so cryptic. One is a basic cd that has every model/year and who knows what else of ALL the MB books in electronic format that is rather good, the problem is that the index isn't very good. So I have to kind of guess-timate the location of the .pdf file and open files until I find my vehicle, then system area, then sub-system area and then finally my problem area. (pain in the you know what). The second cd that I bought I spent some bucks, I was desperate so I paid $80 for this WIS cd set. I'm a computer nerd and my computer skills are pretty darn good, but I haven't been able to successfully use the WIS program to save my life! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. Now I just rely on my real life buddies (bezworld ones, other internet ones and close to home ones). I have good mechanical skills, I'm just a visual learner, so I really need good documentation. Can you help? I guess let me throw this out there: Is this set good?

And I still haven't found a "good" source for the avantgarde grill. Is it basically a homebrew job?

I finally found my engine mount bolts and replaced my oil pan. She has been down for about five months!!! I have been doing a lot of business travel as well, so my baby hung out in the garage for the winter season. Took her out for a spin last night, wow!!! I fell in love with her all over again.
Thanks

Raf

Hi Raf...

To your question about the Black Grill for W-126's..Members remove them...paint them & add the extra Chrome bars.

I did mine...& its suprizingly cheap..can of Krylon Plastic paint....& that plastic Chrome LOOKing door edge guard stuff @ Kragens/Pep-Boys or who ever.
Thats the cheapest way...but you can add OEM strips & glue them on.
A new grill inset is about $15.00 & the OEM Chrome strips are $.95-$1.95 EA. (depending where ya buy them.
Hope this helps .
Dan

My 560..

Theres a link for the FULL HOW2....but I can't find it..sorry.

Hi RAF, Go to www.mbusa.com ,click on mercedes benz in depht + classic + classic center + technical literature. On type of lit.: click on service manual and add your car info. To get the most out of the CD's, download to HD with Steve Nerdig's index. All this is easily found with the 'search this forum' function (top right). Good luck, Teutone (aka Horst K)

Hi Raf,

My post on the MB CDs in the DIY section has the direct URL for the MBUSA Tech Literature. You can order directly (and painlessly) from them. Just pop up there, you'll see it straight away.

Horst referred you to the Steve Nervig Index Tool with good reason. It makes accessing the info available on the CDs a snap. It also circumvents the poorly written MB index which is prone to 404 errors in the browser..... Anyway, a direct URL for that is posted up in DIY with the MB Tech Lit URL.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, MBL

Grilling Questions

I have seen several versions of the Horizontal chromed grill, and they are nice. But I would like to do a Vertical chromed grill (similar to Bentley). Anyone have any photos of a Vertical grill?

Hey guys, I found this pic when I first started poking around this forum back in Aug-Sept 04. The Dutch owner is Bas. His Benzworld handle is 560selw126. There was a whole thread on this, to find it, search my name: Raf (or I guess you can search his name also), his entry was called, "My and my friends w126". He explains where he purchased the grill, I to this day still haven't been sucessful in ordering one, but it sure looks sharp.

Enjoy.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info on the CDs and Index. Im going to try the index with the cds that I already have, maybe it'll work? If not it's only $20 for the MBUSA version. Knowledge is POWER. Thanks again

Hi Raf, Why dont you click on his username and send a private message. Maybe he can help. Cheerio, Teutone (aka Horst K)
P.S. Dutch is close to both German and English, you won't have any problem to communicate.
