So, mbrace is being sunsetted for MY 2016 and prior and some MY 2017 vehicles due to the sunsetting of 3G networks in the states.

Has anyone tried using the HUM alternative? Apparently MBUSA has partnered with Verizon on this as a solution for us. I've read some negative reviews (regarding connectivity and functionality) on this and it's a 4g technology, not 5g.

Funny thing is, I've never had much success with the legacy mbrace on the 3g networks and with my 3rd-party wireless CarPlay, I almost never used the mbrace connectivity. Still, I liked having that connection as a backup and I like the idea that I can tap into the OBDii diagnostics via my smartphone.

Costs seem much cheaper than what I was paying for mbrace, but I'm just wondering why keep paying for old tech...

I also saw the bad HUM reviews. I am trying to use Android Auto to sync either Google Maps or Waze to my 2016 MB E350. It looks like Waze needs a 2017 or later to connect. And it seems Android Auto is not compatible with my model. Has anyone had success with another approach?

I'm actually using WAZE via a 3rd party wireless CarPlay/Android Auto box. ISTR, for 2016 and forward, there's an OBDii plugin you can use. You should be able to get this from MB or aftermarket.

Given the bad reviews of HUM, I think I'm just going to let my emergency response die, even though the HUM subscription is cheaper than my current Mbrace. I almost never used it, and with smartphones, is it really necessary?

It appears my 2016 E350 is not compatible with Android Auto so I'm not sure this will work...

You can add a 3rd party box for Android Auto. Most of these will also have CarPlay capability as well.

I used a Joyeauto unit in my '15 E400, but it will also fit the '16 E350/W212
