I am researching the torque capacities of these transmissions. As I understand it, the transmissions used on c280 through to CLK55 are all similar, but with different numbers of clutch plates to satisfy the torque output of different engines. It is also clear that the gearbox controller programming is different between models even with the same engines. We are able to modify shift quality via the gearbox controller which helps to raise the torque capacity of each clutch pack, but for our supercharge CLK 430, we cannot control the clutch slip particularly when changing from second to third.
