What do you think the biggest engine that you can stuff in to a 190. the thing is a got a 87 560sel and I was think pulling the engine out and maybe stuffing it in to a smaller car for that great power to weight ratio. The 560sel is very fast for a car it’s size and weight. Would a 190 with a 5 speed be completely ridicules for a task like this. Well I guess my question is what is the size of the 190 engine bay. Maybe If I ripped everything out of the 190- engine bay would it be at all possible. And as for the transmission, would it be possible to mate a 5.6 liter with a 190 5 speed or is that ridicules too. Well hopefully this will interest some of you.

560 into 190

Nothing is impossible, but short of having thousands to spend on the job, this as near to impossible as you can get.

Even with everything ripped out, the engine would not fit. Serious modifications would be needed to the vehicles body + major strengthening work.

All of the engine wiring would need removing and rewiring.

The 190 transmission would not fit the 560. You would have to purchase a 560 transmission, which again would not fit the body (more modifications to the body and interior).

The differential would not last 5 minutes with that much torque going through it. You would need a specailist job doing on the dif.

These are just a few of the jobs needed.

yea i know that it would coust a fourten and would need a lot of work but i just wanted to trhought it out there. thanks for your input.

so what to you think of a 300TE wagon then do you think it might work better in there.

Theres more room under the bonnet(hood) and MB did produce a 500e.

However the 500e had serious modifications made to the body work to acommodate the engine.

You would still have to replace all the wiring and replace the differential and transmission.

It would be a brave task and i wouldn't fancy trying it. If you think you have the money and specailist know how, there must be alot of job satisfaction in the finished product.

AMG once put a 6.0 litre (i think) in the 190,
and Brabus once put a 7.3 V12 in the W12...

But I've searched high and low on the internet for this car and found next to nothing on it!
