Max mounting depth for rear deck & front door speakers - Late Gen II - 10 speaker car

Looking for some speakers to mate with my aftermarket Alpine head unit. I know a speaker 6.5 will fit in diameter, but how about the depth? I'd like to get the speakers in the attached link, but they require between 2.25" - 2.5" of clearance. I've done some searches, but no one seems to have a definitive answer on this. The speakers have great reviews and aren't that pricey, so I'd like to be able to mount a set of 4, and then eventually replace the 4x6s up front with something else (not sure).

Another question: if I wire up these speakers on the rear deck, do I keep the two tweeters on each side that were a part of the original system, or should I buy component speakers to replace them? Is it possible to wire them to function with the new 2-way , or would that become overkill on the high end (which already seems to scream at you because of the placement of the front dash speakers).

I used a set of infinity speakers in my Benz and they fit perfectly. If you take out the 2 screws on the door speaker grills, you can see the stock housings. They will come out after you remove for 10mm nuts and you can check them out for your speakers. Also, if you remove the speaker grills from the dash, you can tap into the wiring for the doors the factory splice is right there. Good luck, Vince

i just had my system gutted.

i wouldn't spend the money on components in the rear. pull the two tweeters and slap in a coax or the like - it's just fill in the end, to some degree.

the speakers we put in the door were 70mm/2.8" deep. i think he had to put a small ring around it to push it out a bit, but net-net the door has the stock grille on it still and the window works fine - no interference.
