Hi all,

I'm a newbie here so forgive me if i'm asking for advice in the wrong place... i've just picked up an E-Class diesel estate CDi320, year 2000 - the display says i have 1 malfunctoin and goes on to detail "reduce oil level" - should i be worried?? can it be easily fixed??

Thanks.

1) Wrong place but no worries, everyone is new here in the beginning.

2) Try either General Mercedes Benz (because this message is not model specific) or the W210 forum (what your car is).

In the meantime, this is what I know. You should have a little oil siphoned out via the capped tube where oil is added. A tech on here said if too much oil is OK, then Mercedes would not have added the sensor to detect this. Others have told me it should present no problem, and that the sensor is too sensitive (mine went off when oil was just at the full mark on the dipstick).

Try this: look at the dipstick and see what it reads. There is a slight possibility that your sensor is bad. If not, I'd advice that you siphon off some oil.
