i want to make my 300sd smoke. i want black diesel smoke coming out the back. is there anyway i can make it run rich and then back to normal if i want. i wjust want to do it for fun any ideas?

Sure, just tromp the accel every time you take off. Just hold it hard to the floor every time. That will surely p*ss people off behind you.

Might even make people take real notice of and consequently reevaluate their views of Mercedes-Benz. Slick..... but fun.

Come on, do you really think a great cloud of black smoke for fun has no long term cost (image-wise or other)? How about this for starters: Mercedes equals SH*TBOX. Do you think that another driver(s) might get that impression today?

Yes there is but I highly recommend against it as you could damage your IP, and those are expensive to rebuild or replace. Please leave it alone. 617s are so strong they can tolerate neglect (for a while…) but can’t handle abuse.

It’s not unusual for some diesels to puke out a cloud of smoke under WOT or when first started. As diesels are not the fastest things in the world it is a good way to discourage tail-gaters. But it should be used rarely and not artificially induced.

hmmm..... i didn't really know that, learn something new everyday i guess. But why would one want a constant out-pour of black smoke while they drive? That i don't understand.

I think you're missing his point.

He wants to impress onlookers with an impressive display of black smoke, not unlike a male peacock's display during mating. This would be an attempt to draw attention to oneself..... Well maybe, as no one could appreciate one another, especially a stranger, were they choosing to belch black smoke out their a*s.
But, I'm not a diesel guy.... maybe I've my head tucked.... Oh well............, the air is better
